The purpose of this project is to consolidate and develop a new
strategic course for the organisational capacity and democratic base of
the Zimbabwean organisation, the National Constitutional Assembly. NCA
is the only noteworthy Zimbabwean CSO that advocates an inclusive,
popular and democratic constitutional process in Zimbabwe, unlike the
narrow political top-down process presently pursued by the Zimbabwean
government.
The project will attempt to involve the NCA base in its
entirety in the development of a new strategy, thereby hopefully
strengthening the organisation in the process; expand its
documentational and communicational capacity; and implement a campaign
against organised sexual violence against women as a platform for
advancing the rights of Zimbabweans in general. This capacity building
is a necessary first step towards exercising advocacy to ensure the
inclusive constitutional process that is the pre-condition for political
change and socio-economical development and progress in Zimbabwe.
The project is expected to commence in August 2010 and has a budget of 1 million Danish Kroner.
